Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum Review

If you’ve been seeing all the TikTok videos of glass skin - I think 80% of those videos have been pushing this product (or at least in my feed haha). Naturally, I caved. So let’s get into the review today!

This Beauty of Joseon glow serum is made for those struggling with enlarged pores and skin inflammation. With a blend of 60% propolis extract and 2% niacinamide, it is meant to manage sebum production and hydration at the same time.

Besides the glow serum, BOJ also has their Glow Deep serum meant to tackle pigmentation issues and uneven skintone, a Calming serum with green tea (which has a way better ingredients list than the current Innisfree one I reviewed a while back), and then the Revive serum with ginseng root water.

A little background about the brand in case you were curious - it is a kbeauty brand featuring mostly ‘Hanbang’ ingredients, or more traditional medicinal/natural skincare ingredients. According to actual korean influencers, this brand isn’t really well known or used in korea, but rather it’s more marketed towards westerners. Do with that information as you will, but their products are actually quite good! I’ve tried their Dynasty Cream as well and have the review here.

Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum Review - Quick Facts:

Formulation: alcohol-free, fragrance-free, essential-oil free

Scent: honey scent

Texture: honey like, slightly thicker serum

Price: $32.99

Where to buy: Esmea.ca (based in Montreal, QC)

Main pros: I really like this serum, especially for the wintertime! This serum really feels nourishing and makes the skin glow (and not just in a surface level way). It’s a viscous kind of serum but very spreadable and hydrating, makeup glides on smoothly as well and this doesn’t pill underneath (just give this a moment to sink in first).

Main cons: While this is meant for all skin types, I do think oily skin types may not like this because it does leave more of a glowy/dewy finish on the skin.

How To Use This Serum:

  1. Apply 2-3 drops of serum onto the face.

  2. Pat gently to aid absorption.

  3. Complete the rest of your skincare routine.

Does beauty of Joseon Glow Serum repair skin barrier?

Some of it’s key ingredients include propolis Extract, snail mucin, licorice root extract, niacinamide and collagen all of which is meant to help repair acne scars, hydrates, brightens, maintains skin elasticity and strengthens the skin barrier. If you do have a very compromised skin barrier though I’d stick to something even gentler and more soothing like the SKIN1004 Centella Asiatica Ampoule (that one is 100% centella asiatica, or ‘cica’ extract, very soothing!).

Summing Up:

If you have more dry, normal to combo-skin, you can give this Glow Serum a try if you like your skin to be more dewy! The ingredient list and application is great and would make a great winter/dry season staple :)
